Books in libraries and databases: which source knows which ID?

The lab records which libraries and book databases list the books of LocalSEOLab Publishing, with the ID per source and whether that source offers open data. This is the baseline for a question we keep tracking: which of these sources do Google and AI assistants use to recognise an author and his books?

What the lab will measure

Question 1: does Google recognise the author?

We note whether a search for the author name shows a knowledge panel, and which sources it names.

Question 2: do AI assistants name the books?

We ask several AI assistants the same question (“Which books did Gijs Bodenstaff write?”) and note which titles and sources come back.

Question 3: does open data count?

Sources with open data (such as Open Library and ORCID) are easy for machines to process. We check whether they come back more often than sources without.

What the baseline does not say

This is a record, not a result. There are no results here yet: they follow after the repeat measurement in the test log. On 14 October 2026 only Local SEO 2026 is in the KB catalogue; the 2027 titles follow once the deposit is processed.

Questions about this baseline

Why does a local SEO lab measure book databases?

Because businesses face the same question: which external sources do Google and AI use to recognise an entity? Books have hard IDs, so they are easy to measure.

Which sources offer open data?

On the check date Open Library, the Internet Archive, Google Books (Books API) and ORCID. Goodreads has not issued new API keys since 2020.

When will the results be published?

After the repeat measurement, in the test log, with date and source.

Why are the 2027 titles not in the KB yet?

The KB processes the legal deposit with some delay. On 14 October 2026 only Local SEO 2026 was in the catalogue.

Does one ISBN per book matter?

Yes. One ISBN per edition makes every source point to the same title. A second ISBN for the same book splits the signals.

Can I repeat this baseline myself?

Yes. The links and IDs in the table are public. Look up each ID per source and compare with the check date.
